Helping people improve emotional responses,
moods, relationships, and self esteem since 1976.

I've been working to better the lives of individuals and couples through psychological counseling since graduating with a Masters Degree in Counseling in 1976, and I received my Marriage and Family Therapy license in 1978.  My office is in Oakland, CA, known as the "East Bay," also convenient for residents of Piedmont, Berkeley and Alameda.  I've lived in Oakland for over 30 years, and love the diversity of cultures, ethnicities and communities represented here.

My practice includes adults (individuals and couples) of varying ages, race, sexuality, class and country-of-origin backgrounds.  Clients experience a wide variety of life problems, including relationship difficulties (present, past, in or out of) as well as depression, anxiety, grief, stress, communication issues, healing childhood wounds and long-term issues of low self-esteem.  Also, a common reason people come to therapy stems from the pain of being raised by one or two mentally disturbed but undiagnosed parents. Please see the "Practice Description" page for more information.

        Why come to therapy?

Seeking help is a challenge for many people.  We often delay doing so until the pain of the problem is too much to bear alone, or we have accepted that we’re going in circles and need outside guidance to get perspective and make the changes necessary to relieve the pain.
If you're browsing for therapists, it's probably time to make the call for an appointment.  I hope you'll read more about my work and that the information on this website will "speak to you."  I look forward to determining with you if I can be of help.
